Phase locking, noise and hysteresis, can thus be understood in a simple and coherent way. The transition to chaos is related to the development of a cubic inflection point. Recent theoretical results on universal behavior at the transition to chaos can readily be checked experimentally by studying I-V characteristics. 17 references, 1 figure. %0Journal Article %N;Journal ID: CODEN: SSCOA %1AC02-76CH00016 %CUnited Kingdom %Rhttps://doi.org/10.1016/0038-1098(84)91002-0 Journal ID: CODEN: SSCOA JMT %GEnglish
