<dc:description>In order to reduce sulphur deposition in the most cos-effective way, the atmospheric transfer of emissions and the costs of different emission reduction measures must be taken into account. Recent studies performed at the Technical Recearch Centre of Finland in collaboration with IIASA and Finnish Meteorological Institute indicate that the most cost-effective measures can be taken in southem Finland and in the Kola Peninsula in the U.S.S.R. Other Soviet nearby regions have a high priority, too. Significant reductions in deposition levels can, however, be achieved only through marked abatement of emissions in central and eastern Europe.</dc:description>
