  "description" : "Deals with occurrence of nitrogen, carbon dioxide and methane in coal seams in various coal deposits in the world. A method of determining gas bearing capacity is explained. Results of measurements in the Thorez and Walbrzych mines conducted to find zones of nitrogen occurrence are shown. Another series of measurements was conducted for selected coal grades in several mines in Lower Silesia in order to determine the amount of oxygen chemisorption by coal and the dependence of this phenomenon on nitrogen bearing capacity. The mean values of gas bearing capacity for nitrogen were found to be 0-2.45 m{sup 3}/t while the maximum values for carbon dioxide and methane were 24 and 14 m{sup 3}/t of pure coal substance respectively. They do not depend on deposition depth. Nitrogen bearing capacity occurs in coal seams saturated by methane or by a mixture of methane with carbon dioxide. 5 refs.",
