  "description" : "The mechanical and metallurgical properties of single thermal spray coating and composite coating were studied. In this study, composite coatings were formed on carbon steel surfaces using various mixtures of Al thermal spraying material for ductile coating and Al2O3 ceramic material for harder coating by powder gas flame thermal spraying. These composite coatings were examined by rolling abrasion test and bending test. As a result, in rolling abrasion test, Al(75%)+Al2O3(25%) composite thermal spray coating showed the minimum abrasion loss, while Al(25%)+Al2O3(75%) composite coating showed the maximum loss. Large burr was observed on the Al single thermal spray coating with high ductility, while large peeling and various cracks were observed on the Al2O3 single coating with poor bonding strength. However, only slight peeling was observed on the edge of the composite coating. The good correlation was found between the adhesion strength and abrasion loss of thermal spray coatings. 6 refs., 10 figs., 2 tabs.",
