In particular, the requirements placed by the new Monte-Rosa mountaineers' lodge and the new revolving restaurant on top of the Hohen Kasten mountain in Switzerland are examined. The demanding requirements placed on the building-technological and energy aspects of such alpine buildings are looked at. Energy production and storage aspects and energy use are discussed and the use of well-tried conventional technology is noted. Also, the importance of carrying out simulations of the systems is stressed.
