	       <dc:description>It has been demonstrated that electrochemical oxidation of a number of hydrocarbons (methane, ethane, 1-butane and toluene) in a heated solid fuel cell with a composite copper anode represents a power source with the potential to greatly accelerate the use of fuel cells in vehicles and distributed power applications. The system is seen as an alternative to hydrogen-based fuel cell technologies. The waste products are carbon dioxide and water. (UK)</dc:description>
