	       <dc:description>A successful energy management program needs handling and detailed interpretation of energy data. The Energy Management Program software (EMP), described in this paper, was initially developed to help in handling energy data to provide inputs to the Tasmanian Government to use energy efficiently. The software proved to be so successful that it is being used as a tool in managing many institutional energy programs in other organizations in Tasmania and other States. The paper describes the capabilities of EMP and some of the case studies which were indicated by EMP to be potential sites for energy efficiency improvements. EMP maintains current and historical data on energy consumption, cost, types of energy used, tariff structure, climatic data, floor area, type and capacity of equipment installed, usage patterns and number of occupants for each site. It has the capability of generating a range of information relating to energy consumption and cost. A number of organizations using EMP have reported energy savings as much as 50 percent. It is therefore considered to be one of the best tools in helping to promote energy efficiency in institutional energy management. 8 figs.</dc:description>
