Title: METHOD OF FORMING A FUEL ELEMENT FOR A NUCLEAR REACTOR

Abstract

A method is given for preparing a fuel element for a nuclear reactor. The method includes the steps of sandblasting a body of uranium dioxide to roughen the surface thereof, depositing a thin layer of carbon thereon by thermal decomposition of methane, and cladding the uranium dioxide body with zirconium by gas pressure bonding.
