Materials Data on GdSiO4 by Materials Project
Abstract
GdSiO4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pna2_1 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Gd is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine O atoms. There are a spread of Gd–O bond distances ranging from 2.33–2.77 Å. Si is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to five O atoms. There are a spread of Si–O bond distances ranging from 1.64–2.25 Å. There are four inequivalent O sites. In the first O site, O is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Gd and one Si atom. In the second O site, O is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to two equivalent Gd and one Si atom. In the third O site, O is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Gd and one Si atom. In the fourth O site, O is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to two equivalent Gd and two equivalent Si atoms.
