Title: Materials Data on Ni(CO3)2 by Materials Project

Abstract

Ni(CO3)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/c space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of four Ni(CO3)2 ribbons oriented in the (0, 1, 0) direction. Ni4+ is bonded in an octahedral geometry to six O2- atoms. There is two shorter (1.76 Å) and four longer (2.03 Å) Ni–O bond length. C4+ is bonded in a bent 120 degrees geometry to two O2- atoms. Both C–O bond lengths are 1.27 Å. There are three inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to one Ni4+ and one C4+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to one Ni4+ and one C4+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Ni4+ atom.
