Title: Materials Data on CaO by Materials Project

Abstract

CaO crystallizes in the orthorhombic Cmce space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of two CaO sheets oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Ca2+ is bonded to five equivalent O2- atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing CaO5 square pyramids. All Ca–O bond lengths are 2.36 Å. O2- is bonded to five equivalent Ca2+ atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing OCa5 square pyramids.
