Materials Data on KMnCl by Materials Project
Abstract
KMnCl crystallizes in the orthorhombic Imma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. K is bonded in a square co-planar geometry to four equivalent Cl atoms. There are one shorter (3.06 Å) and three longer (3.07 Å) K–Cl bond lengths. Mn is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Cl atoms. Both Mn–Cl bond lengths are 2.75 Å. Cl is bonded to four equivalent K and two equivalent Mn atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing ClK4Mn2 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 0–4°.
