Title: Materials Data on BaSm3 by Materials Project

Abstract

BaSm3 is Uranium Silicide structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ba is bonded to twelve equivalent Sm atoms to form BaSm12 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent BaSm12 cuboctahedra, edges with twenty-four equivalent SmBa4Sm8 cuboctahedra, faces with six equivalent BaSm12 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve equivalent SmBa4Sm8 cuboctahedra. All Ba–Sm bond lengths are 3.78 Å. Sm is bonded to four equivalent Ba and eight equivalent Sm atoms to form SmBa4Sm8 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent SmBa4Sm8 cuboctahedra, edges with eight equivalent BaSm12 cuboctahedra, edges with sixteen equivalent SmBa4Sm8 cuboctahedra, faces with four equivalent BaSm12 cuboctahedra, and faces with fourteen equivalent SmBa4Sm8 cuboctahedra. All Sm–Sm bond lengths are 3.78 Å.
