Materials Data on LaTeCl by Materials Project
Abstract
LaTeCl crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to five equivalent Te2- and four equivalent Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of La–Te bond distances ranging from 3.32–3.36 Å. There are a spread of La–Cl bond distances ranging from 3.02–3.08 Å. Te2- is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to five equivalent La3+ and six equivalent Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of Te–Cl bond distances ranging from 3.61–3.89 Å. Cl1- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent La3+ and six equivalent Te2- atoms.
