Materials Data on CdS by Materials Project
Abstract
CdS is Halite, Rock Salt structured and crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pmmn space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Cd2+ is bonded to six equivalent S2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing CdS6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 0–2°. There are two shorter (2.75 Å) and four longer (2.76 Å) Cd–S bond lengths. S2- is bonded to six equivalent Cd2+ atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing SCd6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 0–2°.
