Materials Data on NbP2 by Materials Project
Abstract
NbP2 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4_1/amd space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of four NbP2 sheets oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Nb5+ is bonded in a distorted square co-planar geometry to four equivalent P+2.50- atoms. All Nb–P bond lengths are 2.41 Å. P+2.50- is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Nb5+ and one P+2.50- atom. The P–P bond length is 2.11 Å.
