Title: Materials Data on Eu5Pt4 by Materials Project

Abstract

Eu5Pt4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are three inequivalent Eu sites. In the first Eu site, Eu is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six Pt atoms. There are a spread of Eu–Pt bond distances ranging from 2.96–3.11 Å. In the second Eu site, Eu is bonded to seven Pt atoms to form distorted EuPt7 pentagonal bipyramids that share corners with four equivalent EuPt6 octahedra, corners with six equivalent EuPt7 pentagonal bipyramids, edges with two equivalent EuPt7 pentagonal bipyramids, faces with two equivalent EuPt6 octahedra, and faces with three equivalent EuPt7 pentagonal bipyramids. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 46–52°. There are a spread of Eu–Pt bond distances ranging from 3.13–3.44 Å. In the third Eu site, Eu is bonded to six Pt atoms to form distorted EuPt6 octahedra that share corners with four equivalent EuPt6 octahedra, corners with eight equivalent EuPt7 pentagonal bipyramids, and faces with four equivalent EuPt7 pentagonal bipyramids.
