Title: Global meta-analysis of published river bank erosion and migration rates

Abstract

This dataset is a compilation of 931 measurements of river bank erosion from 290 rivers and streams compiled from 159 published English language studies. The dataset spans rivers across latitudes ranging from 46 deg south to 70.5 deg north. The rivers range in drainage area from 0.15 to 3.2 million square kilometers. If provided in a published study, recorded channel width, river drainage area, and sediment load and/or yield were summarized. In the absence of these ancillary data from the original source, this data was compiled from other published studies, global and regional datasets, or measured representative widths from Google Earth images. The dataset also provides information on whether the rates were measured at an individual river bend or represent reach-based averages, as well as, whether the river is single or multi-threaded.
