Title: Materials Data on Sm3Y by Materials Project

Abstract

Sm3Y is Magnesium-derived structured and crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Sm is bonded to eight equivalent Sm and four equivalent Y atoms to form SmSm8Y4 cuboctahedra that share corners with four equivalent YSm12 cuboctahedra, corners with fourteen equivalent SmSm8Y4 cuboctahedra, edges with six equivalent YSm12 cuboctahedra, edges with twelve equivalent SmSm8Y4 cuboctahedra, faces with four equivalent YSm12 cuboctahedra, and faces with sixteen equivalent SmSm8Y4 cuboctahedra. There are four shorter (3.60 Å) and four longer (3.67 Å) Sm–Sm bond lengths. There are two shorter (3.60 Å) and two longer (3.67 Å) Sm–Y bond lengths. Y is bonded to twelve equivalent Sm atoms to form YSm12 cuboctahedra that share corners with six equivalent YSm12 cuboctahedra, corners with twelve equivalent SmSm8Y4 cuboctahedra, edges with eighteen equivalent SmSm8Y4 cuboctahedra, faces with eight equivalent YSm12 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve equivalent SmSm8Y4 cuboctahedra.
