Title: Materials Data on RhCl2 by Materials Project

Abstract

RhCl2 is Rutile structured and crystallizes in the tetragonal P4_2/mnm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Rh is bonded to six equivalent Cl atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing RhCl6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 50°. There are two shorter (2.44 Å) and four longer (2.45 Å) Rh–Cl bond lengths. Cl is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to three equivalent Rh atoms.
