Title: Materials Data on BaSe2 by Materials Project

Abstract

BaSe2 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/c space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ba2+ is bonded to eight equivalent Se1- atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing BaSe8 hexagonal bipyramids. There are a spread of Ba–Se bond distances ranging from 3.29–3.44 Å. Se1- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Ba2+ and two equivalent Se1- atoms. There are one shorter (2.46 Å) and one longer (3.10 Å) Se–Se bond lengths.
