Title: Materials Data on MgMn4O8 by Materials Project

Abstract

MgMn2O4(MnO2)2 crystallizes in the triclinic P-1 space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of two manganese hydroxide (mn(oh)2) molecules and one MgMn2O4 cluster. In the MgMn2O4 cluster, Mg2+ is bonded in a distorted linear geometry to two equivalent O2- atoms. Both Mg–O bond lengths are 1.83 Å. Mn+3.50+ is bonded in a distorted linear geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.46 Å) and one longer (1.57 Å) Mn–O bond length. There are two inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to one Mg2+ and one Mn+3.50+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to one Mn+3.50+ atom.
