Title: Materials Data on Eu2C(NCl)2 by Materials Project

Abstract

Eu2C(NCl)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu2+ is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to three equivalent N3- and four equivalent Cl1- atoms. There are two shorter (2.59 Å) and one longer (2.61 Å) Eu–N bond lengths. There are two shorter (3.00 Å) and two longer (3.02 Å) Eu–Cl bond lengths. C4+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent N3- atoms. Both C–N bond lengths are 1.24 Å. N3- is bonded to three equivalent Eu2+ and one C4+ atom to form distorted NEu3C tetrahedra that share corners with three equivalent NEu3C tetrahedra, corners with ten equivalent ClEu4 tetrahedra, an edgeedge with one ClEu4 tetrahedra, and edges with two equivalent NEu3C tetrahedra. Cl1- is bonded to four equivalent Eu2+ atoms to form ClEu4 tetrahedra that share corners with six equivalent ClEu4 tetrahedra, corners with ten equivalent NEu3C tetrahedra, an edgeedge with one NEu3C tetrahedra, and edges with three equivalent ClEu4 tetrahedra.
