Materials Data on BaSn5 by Materials Project
Abstract
BaSn5 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ba is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to fourteen Sn atoms. There are two shorter (3.59 Å) and twelve longer (3.79 Å) Ba–Sn bond lengths. There are two inequivalent Sn sites. In the first Sn site, Sn is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Ba and four equivalent Sn atoms. There are one shorter (2.98 Å) and three longer (3.16 Å) Sn–Sn bond lengths. In the second Sn site, Sn is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Ba atoms.
