Title: Materials Data on NbI3 by Materials Project

Abstract

NbI3 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mcm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of one NbI3 ribbon oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Nb3+ is bonded to six equivalent I1- atoms to form face-sharing NbI6 octahedra. All Nb–I bond lengths are 2.84 Å. I1- is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Nb3+ atoms.
