Materials Data on PtCl2 by Materials Project
Abstract
PtCl2 is Tungsten structured and crystallizes in the trigonal R-3m space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of three PtCl2 clusters. Pt2+ is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to four Cl1- atoms. All Pt–Cl bond lengths are 2.33 Å. There are two inequivalent Cl1- sites. In the first Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in an L-shaped geometry to two equivalent Pt2+ atoms. In the second Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in an L-shaped geometry to two equivalent Pt2+ atoms.
