Title: Materials Data on AsI3 by Materials Project

Abstract

AsI3 is Bismuth triodide structured and crystallizes in the trigonal R-3 space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of three AsI3 sheets oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. As3+ is bonded to six equivalent I1- atoms to form edge-sharing AsI6 octahedra. There are three shorter (2.72 Å) and three longer (3.17 Å) As–I bond lengths. I1- is bonded in an L-shaped geometry to two equivalent As3+ atoms.
