Title: Materials Data on GdO2 by Materials Project

Abstract

GdO2 crystallizes in the tetragonal P4/nmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Gd is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine O atoms. There are a spread of Gd–O bond distances ranging from 2.38–2.47 Å. There are two inequivalent O sites. In the first O site, O is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Gd atoms. In the second O site, O is bonded to five equivalent Gd atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing OGd5 trigonal bipyramids.
