Materials Data on Cr by Materials Project
Abstract
Cr crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3n space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Cr sites. In the first Cr site, Cr is bonded to twelve equivalent Cr atoms to form a mixture of edge and face-sharing CrCr12 cuboctahedra. All Cr–Cr bond lengths are 2.54 Å. In the second Cr site, Cr is bonded in a 2-coordinate geometry to fourteen Cr atoms. There are two shorter (2.27 Å) and eight longer (2.78 Å) Cr–Cr bond lengths.
