Title: Materials Data on NbC by Materials Project

Abstract

NbC crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Nb4+ is bonded to five equivalent C4- atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing NbC5 trigonal bipyramids. There are three shorter (2.14 Å) and two longer (2.24 Å) Nb–C bond lengths. C4- is bonded to five equivalent Nb4+ atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing CNb5 trigonal bipyramids.
