We report the thermal and structural properties of glasses of posaconazole, a rod-like molecule, prepared using physical vapor deposition (PVD). PVD glasses of posaconazole can show substantial molecular orientation depending upon the choice of substrate temperature, Tsubstrate, during deposition.Ellipsometry and IR measurements indicate that glasses prepared at Tsubstrate very near the glass transition temperature (Tg) are highly ordered. For these posaconazole glasses, the orientation order parameter is similar to that observed in macroscopically aligned nematic liquid crystals, indicating that the molecules are mostly parallel to one another and perpendicular to the interface. Anisotropic molecular packing, particularly in highly ordered liquid crystalline arrangements, has the potential for optimizing performance in organic electronic and optoelectronic applications. Here we show that physical vapor deposition can be used to prepare highly organized glassy solids of discotic liquid crystalline systems. Using grazing incidence X-ray scattering, atomic force microscopy, and UV–vis spectroscopy, we compare three systems: a rectangular columnar liquid crystal, a hexagonal columnar liquid crystal, and a nonmesogen. We analyze the underlying structural order that transcends liquid, glass and crystalline states in metallic systems. A genetic algorithm is applied to search for the most common energetically favorable packing motifs in crystalline structures. These motifs are in turn compared to the observed packing motifs in the actual liquid or glass structures using a cluster-alignment method. Using this method, we have revealed the nature of the short-range order in Cu₆₄Zr₃₆ glasses. More importantly, we identified a novel structural order in the Al₉₀Sm₁₀ system. Here we provide the complete set of circular elements produced by SCAPP from metagenomic data that may represent mobile genetic elements (MGEs). For the publication, these sequences were de-replicated within the high [U] and low [U] sample sets. Additionally, 98 of the circular elements were removed for downstream analysis due to high suspicion of being (1) chloroplast or mitochondrial sequences or (2) erroneously circularized long repeat regions. The complete list of circular elements used for the analysis along with metadata can be found in Tables S5 and S6.

This paper addresses the potential impact of liquid metal (LM) plasma facing components (PFCs) for the heating and current drive actuators (H&CD) on the Fusion Nuclear Science Facility (FNSF) fusion reactor. Fulfilling the high neutron fluence mission of the FSNF requires steady-state operation for extremely long pulses (months to years) between maintenance opportunities.
