Published information on the study of brown coals by NMR of carbon{sup 13} yielded reliable correlations of appraising the degree of aromaticity of their organic body according to the atomic ratios of H/C and O/C. The results were employed for evaluating the structural characteristics and finding the correlation between the indices of the structure and the reactivity of the coals.
