GLAST LAT Searches for Particle Dark Matter: An Experimental Point of View
We give an overview of the GLAST Dark Matter and New Physics Working Group efforts in the area of Milky Way satellites and Milky Way halo, both theoretical and experimental. We outline the basic signatures, strategies, and experimental challenges for dark matter detection. We describe the current status of analysis techniques being developed to meet the experimental challenges. We describe how the various analyses can be reduced to a 'model independent' framework, and how the various sensitivities using different techniques within GLAST compare with one another. We outline the experimental challenges involved with more precise follow-up of potential GLAST dark matter sources, and potential cross-checks with other experiments.
