Dalitz plot analysis of the D+ > K pi+ pi+ decay in the FOCUS experiment
Abstract
Using data collected by the high energy photoproduction experiment FOCUS at Fermilab we performed a Dalitz plot analysis of the Cabibbo favored decay D{sup +} {yields} K{sup }{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +}. This study uses 53653 Dalitzplot events with a signal fraction of {approx} 97%, and represents the highest statistics, most complete Dalitz plot analysis for this channel. Results are presented and discussed using two different formalisms. The first is a simple sum of BreitWigner functions with freely fitted masses and widths. It is the model traditionally adopted and serves as comparison with the already published analyses. The second uses a Kmatrix approach for the dominant Swave, in which the parameters are fixed by first fitting K{pi} scattering data and continued to threshold by Chiral Perturbation Theory. We show that the Dalitz plot distribution for this decay is consistent with the assumption of two body dominance of the final state interactions and the description of these interactions is in agreement with other data on the K{pi} final state.

It is shown that it is possible to perform a modelindependent extraction of the CabibboKobayashiMaskawa unitarity triangle angle {gamma} using only the decays B{sup 0{yields}}DK{sup +{pi}} with D{yields}K{sub S}{sup 0{pi}+{pi}} and B{sup 0{yields}}DK{sup +{pi}} with flavorspecific D decays. The proposed method can also utilize the B{sup 0{yields}}DK{sup +{pi}} data with CPeigenstate decays of the D meson in a modelindependent way.

Dalitz plot analysis of the D{sup +}{yields}K{sup }{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +} decay
We perform a Dalitz plot analysis of D{sup +}{yields}K{sup }{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +} decay with the CLEOc data set of 572 pb{sup 1} of e{sup +}e{sup } collisions accumulated at the {psi}(3770). This corresponds to 1.6x10{sup 6} D{sup +}D{sup } pairs from which we select 140 793 candidate events with a small background of 1.1%. We compare our results with previous measurements using the isobar model. We modify the isobar model with an improved description of some of the contributing resonances and get better agreement with our data. Improved Measurement of the CKM Angle gamma in B^+ to D^(*) K^(*)+Decays with a Dalitz Plot Analysis of D Decays to K_S^0 pi+ pi and K_S^0 K+ K

Search for D{sup 0}D{sup 0} mixing in the Dalitz plot analysis of D{sup 0}{yields}K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup }
The resonant substructure in D{sup 0}{yields}K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup } decays is described by a combination of ten quasi twobody intermediate states which include both CPeven and CPodd eigenstates and one doubly Cabibbo suppressed channel. We present a formalism that connects the variation in D{sup 0} decay time over the Dalitz plot with the mixing parameters, x and y, that describe offshell and onshell D{sup 0}D{sup 0} mixing. We analyze the CLEO II.V data sample and find the parameters x and y are consistent with zero. We limit (4.5<x<9.3)% and (6.4<y<3.6)% at the 95% confidence level.
