  • The RCC-M, ``Regles de Conception et de Construction des Materiels Mecaniques des Ilots Nucleaires REP`` or, in English, ``Design and Construction Rules for the Mechanical Components of PWR Nuclear Islands`` and the RSE-M, ``Regles de Surveillance en Exploitation des Materiels Mecaniques des Ilots Nucleaires REP`` or, in English, ``In-Service Inspection Rules for the Mechanical Components of PWR Nuclear Islands`` gather all design, construction and operating practices relating to the mechanical components of French PWR nuclear islands. This paper is a presentation of these two codes. Throughout this presentation the specific aspects of the French approach will be underlined and willmore » be compared to that of the ASME codes--mainly Section 3 and Section 11. The broad general technical scopes of the French codes are similar to those of the ASME codes. However, in some important areas of design, material specifications, procurement and manufacturing, the provisions of the RCC-M and RSE-M deviate from those of a strict mechanical Code and are more self-sustaining than those of ASME.« less
  • Subsequent to the introduction of High Performance Computing in the developed countries, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development/Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD/NEA) created the Task Force on Adapting Computer Codes in Nuclear Applications to Parallel Architectures (under the guidance of the Nuclear Science Committee`s Working Party on Advanced Computing) to study the growth area in supercomputing and its applicability to the nuclear community`s computer codes. The result has been four years of investigation for the Task Force in different subject fields - deterministic and Monte Carlo radiation transport, computational mechanics and fluid dynamics, nuclear safety, atmospheric models and waste management.

  • The Radiation Safety Information Computational Center (RSICC) is the designated central repository of the United States Department of Energy (DOE) for nuclear software in radiation transport, safety, and shielding. Since the center was established in the early 60's, there have been several Monte Carlo particle transport (MC) computer codes contributed by scientists from various countries. An overview of the neutron transport computer codes in the RSICC collection is presented.
