In the R{sub 2}O{sub 3}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} systems, perovskite-type RAlO{sub 3} aluminates differing in symmetry and polyhedral structure are known to form for R = La-Ho. However, perovskite-type aluminates are not characteristic of REs from Eu to Lu. It is of interest to assess the thermochemical stability of these aluminates to decomposition into the constituent oxides.
