NdGaO{sub 3} single crystals with orientations (001) and (110) are promising as substrates for growing high-quality, orientation-ordered epitaxial films of high-T{sub c} Y-Ba-Cu-O compounds. One possible application of these films is in the superconducting microbolometers for the IR spectral range. The low-temperature heat capacity and thermal conductivity of NdGaO{sub 3} single crystals and their optical characteristics in the mid-IR region are necessary in developing these microbolometers.
