Title: Low-temperature specific heat and electrical resistivity of nearly ferromagnetic actinide systems within a coupled d and f band model

Abstract

In order to describe nearly ferromagnetic actinide systems a spin-fluctuation model is presented which considers two narrow d and f bands and which takes into account the two-body d-f coupling parameter j/sub df/. The magnetic susceptibility, the ..gamma..-coefficient of the linear T term of the electronic specific heat, and the T/sup 2/ coefficient of the electrical resistivity are derived at low temperatures and a comparison with experiments is presented. This model improves the description of compounds such as UAl/sub 2/ and USn/sub 3/ with respect to previous single-f-band theories and yields an estimation of the enhancement factor of the low-temperature magnetic susceptibility in satisfactory agreement with experimental data.
