Title: X-ray emission characteristics of plasmas created by a high-intensity CO/sub 2/ laser

Abstract

The spectrum of the x-ray continuum and line emission emanating from Al, Mg, and (CH/sub 2/)/sub n/ plasmas created with a nanosecond CO/sub 2/ laser pulse has been investigated at irradiance levels up to 2 x 10/sup 14/ W/cm/sup 2/.
