Title: Materials of the symposium on the chemistry of the transuranium elements. Reports of the Soviet scientists. Some principles of the periodic system and chemical properties of the transuranium elements

Abstract

A new variation of the periodic system of elements is proposed in a long period form, considering the rule of the lines of analogs and two-shell structure of the dyads. The existing concept of the rule of secondary periodicity is discussed, and a two-shell structure of the electronic configurations in the dyads, on the basis of which a fifth quantum numer, permitting the explanation of the rule of secondary periodicity in a new aspect, is considered as an alternative; the question of achieving the maximum possible degree of oxidation of the elements, the absence of analogy in the chemical properties between the 4f and 5f elements, etc. are also discussed. It is suggested that there are four states of the elements in the periodic system, explaining the difference in the chemical properties of the elements, which depend on the spin and orientation quantum numbers in four different positions in the dyads within one electron shell. 8 figures.
