In the framework of purely dipole absorption, another possible explanation is considered for the features in the energy dependence of the coefficient ..cap alpha../sub 2/ in the expansion of the cross section in terms of Legendre polynomials. For definiteness, the angular distributions of photoprotons from the reactions /sup 16/O(..gamma..p/sub O/)/sup 15/N in the energy range from 20 to 22.5 MeV is considered. (JFP)
