Shielding of superconducting field winding of synchronous generator from ac magnetic field
Previously, the shielding phenomenon of the travelling ac magnetic field was analyzed theoretically. Here, the validity of assumptions used for the theoretical analysis was confirmed experimentally and the theoretical results were compared with the experimental ones. The synchronous generator discussed is of rotating field-winding type and has neither rotor core nor stator core. Since the optimum shape of the coil end is unknown at present, it is assumed that the armature winding is infinitely long. Other assumptions set up for the analysis are that both the armature and field windings are arranged linearly and the armature current is represented by a surface current. The armature current is also assumed to travel at a constant speed. (MHR)
