This paper describes a procedure that enables you to enhance the random number generator supplied with your personal computer or workstation to the point where it is possible to perform significant Monte Carlo analyses or conditional simulations at your desk. This is accomplished by mapping the pseudo-random numbers supplied by the manufacturer through a table that vastly increases the length of the sequence and eliminates any local non-randomness. Two BASIC programs are given to illustrate implementation of the procedure; one program yields uniform random numbers for Monte Carlo studies while the other program yields random normal deviates for conditional simulations.
