New multiple phases obtained by intergrowth of the lattices M/sub 6/X/sub 4/O/sub 26/ and M/sub 8/O/sub 21/: oxides K/sub 10/(M/sub 8/O/sub 21/)/sub 2/. M/sub 6/X/sub 4/O/sub 26/ (in French)

New oxides K/sub 10/(M/sub 8/O/sub 21/)/sub 2/.M/sub 6/X/sub 4/O/sub 26/ (M = Nb, Ta; X = Si, Ge) were synthesized. These compounds were investigated by electron diffraction and microscopy, the symmetry is hexagonal, space group P anti 6 2m, with a approximately equal to 9 A, c approximately equal to 20 A. They show an intergrowth of two structural types: (M/sub 8/O/sub 21/) and (M/sub 6/X/sub 4/O/sub 26/) layers. Results of structural study by x-ray powder diffraction are discussed in terms of the stabilization of A/sub 3/M/sub 8/O/sub 21/ and A/sub 6-x/M/sub 6/Si/sub 4/O/sub 26/ structures.
