Resistive internal kink modes

For realistic parameters of magnetically confirmed plasmas the growth rates on inferred kink modes, resulting from the effects of finite electrical resistivity, can be considerably larger than those evaluated from the idealized MHD theory. In addition, magnetic field lines can reconnect and produce configurations with magnetic islands.
