Analysis of the compressibility of a finite symmetrical nucleus in terms of a simple, analytically tractable model
Abstract
The liquiddrop model type expansion of the finite nuclear compressibility coefficients {ital K}{sub {ital A}} is studied in an energy density formalism, using a leptodermous expansion of the energies. It is found that the effective curvature compressibility coefficient {ital K}{sub {ital c}} is always negative for Skyrme type forces. It is also shown that the unexpectedly large value of about {minus}800 MeV of the surface compressibility coefficient {ital K}{sub {ital s}} found by Sharma {ital et} {ital al}. is an artifact of their analysis procedure.
