Relaxation of optically pumped Cs in wall-coated cells

Low spin-relaxation rates of optically pumped Cs atoms are obtained in paraffin-wall-coated cells. The data are analyzed to determine the electron randomization rate for cesium-wall collisions. Pumping of cesium atoms by the paraffin wall coating is also observed.
