Why modern boiler cleaning technology is essential to coal-fired boiler efficiency
Among the energy resources of the United States, coal is becoming the most economical and most available fuel for firing both industrial and utility boilers. The economics of firing coal, however, are dependent upon the ability to effectively control the fireside deposits that are an inherent property of combustion, in varying degrees, in all coals. The cost of this control is an investment in boiler efficiency. Provisions for maintaining a clean and efficient boiler are just as important in a small heating plant as in a large utility boiler. Coal type, boiler size, sootblower type, blowing media all effect boiler operating efficiency. With proper use of the right boiler cleaning equipment, coal can be fired as efficiently as most other fuels. A guide to coal-fired boiler cleaning technology is presented.
