Title: Some studies of methods for polonium-210 solution assay

Abstract

Procedures and techniques are described for the recalibration of electronic methods of /sup 210/Po assay to bring them into agreement with calorimetric methods. The resulting calibrations appear to be absolute for one type of instrument and arbitrary for another. A program of investigation into suitable slide-mounting material is described for use as a sample medium with certain types of electronic assay instruments. Silver is most practical for the purpose; increased precision of assay when glass mounts are replaced by silver mounts is demonstrated. Statistical evidence is offered for the existence of a specific geometry for a specific metal.
