Title: Modeling of heat transfer between an ice-water storage reservoir and its surroundings. [HEATING4 computer code]

Abstract

Heat transfer between an ice-water storage reservoir and its surroundings was examined. Numerical solutions were obtained for various steady states using a computer program, ''HEATING4''. Analytical solutions for the transient side, bottom, and top of the reservoir were obtained after several major simplifying assumptions were made. From the numerical solutions, the effects of ambient air temperature and proximity of water surface to reservoir support beams and insulation on heat transfer were ascertained.
